Conveyor Chain Tensioners
Tensioning references for conveyor chain and related plastic-chain systems where controlled take-up is required.
Component overview

Tensioning references for conveyor chain and related plastic-chain systems where controlled take-up is required.
Treat Conveyor Chain Tensioners as part of the conveyor interface. A reliable quotation starts with the belt or chain identity plus the dimensions and mounting details that this component has to match.
Reference configurations

The component material includes several tensioner configurations. Use the dimensional examples as a starting point only. The ordered tensioner must be checked against chain size, mounting space, adjustment direction and the required take-up range.

Use take-up to manage the chain system, not to hide a mismatch
A tensioner or take-up can maintain chain control as the system wears or changes length, but it should not be used to force the wrong chain, sprocket or guide geometry to run. Confirm chain size and sprocket alignment before deciding that additional tension is the solution to poor engagement.
For replacement tensioners, record the installed adjustment position as well as the total available travel. That helps show whether the old unit was operating near one end of its range.
Replacement and inspection checks
| Check | What to record |
|---|---|
| Chain size | Identify series/strand count |
| Mounting envelope | Record available space and hole pattern |
| Adjustment | Record required travel and direction |
| Existing unit | Photograph installed and removed views |
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the N254 table as a universal fit chart?
No. It documents reference combinations; mounting and adjustment still need confirmation.
Are these tensioners required for modular belts?
They are related conveyor-chain components, not a universal requirement for every modular-belt conveyor.
Request the matched component set
For Conveyor Chain Tensioners, send your belt or chain identification, dimensions, quantity and conveyor interface. A photo or drawing is especially useful when the existing component is being replaced.
