Plastic Modular Belt RFQ Checklist

A useful RFQ gives the information that changes the belt, drive and conveyor interface. It does not need to be long, but it should be mechanically complete.

New conveyor RFQ

"Wide

For a new conveyor, start with the application and geometry. Provide the conveyed product, belt width, path, transfers and proposed drive arrangement. Add load/speed and process environment when known. The objective is to select a mechanically suitable family before asking for detailed material or documentation confirmation.

Replacement RFQ

For a replacement, add the existing belt as a physical reference: top, underside, hinge/pin and sprocket photographs; pitch measured across several repeats; overall belt width; straight/radius path; and any readable reference. If the old belt is damaged, photograph the damage and a healthy section separately.

What not to leave ambiguous

Avoid descriptions such as “standard belt”, “food belt” or “same as photo” without dimensions. If a field is unknown, say it is unknown and provide a photograph. Explicitly missing data can be resolved; assumed data can create a wrong quotation.

For multiple models, list each configuration and quantity separately even when they are combined toward a commercial minimum. This prevents technical requirements from being merged accidentally.

Files that help

PDF drawings, exported CAD views, photographs and spreadsheets can all be useful. Mark the critical dimensions and indicate whether a measurement is required for fit, process performance or internal approval.

Before you send

I only have photos. Is that enough?

Photos can start the review. Add pitch and belt width if you can measure them safely.

I need several belt models. How should I list them?

Use one line per configuration with quantity and any distinct application/geometry.

Should I include sprockets?

Yes when they are being replaced, redesigned or needed to confirm the drive interface.

An RFQ can be short and still be complete

For a new conveyor, one marked-up layout plus a small table of width, path, product, load/speed and environment can be enough to start. For a replacement, a photograph set plus pitch and width may be more useful than a long written description. The objective is not paperwork; it is to capture the variables that change the belt and its interfaces.

List multiple belt models on separate lines. Keep quantity, application and any different materials or accessories attached to the correct line so technical requirements are not merged during quotation.

Need help narrowing the configuration?

Send the information you already have. Missing fields can be identified during review rather than guessed.
